Drake Institute support to help jump start planning for spring 2021

This winter, the Drake Institute and faculty affiliates will provide programming to help support instructors seeking a head start on course preparation for spring 2021. 


CARMEN COMMON SENSE
Monday, Dec. 14 through Thursday, Dec. 17 from 10-11 a.m. daily

If you want to refine your Carmen site prior to the holiday season, join Clinical Associate professor Nicole Kraft from the School of Communication, for a guided workshop designed to help you build or revise your course using Carmen Common Sense (CCS). This workshop also funcitions as an Instructional Redesign cohort, as some features of CCS focus on eveidenc-based instructional strategies. REGISTER HERE 


JUST IN TIME COURSE DESIGN 
Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m.

This three-hour session provides a brief overview of best practices and support for the course design that will help you get there. 

During this session, participants will be provided with a basic structure, a variety of resources on design and range of delivery modalities, as well as opportunities to ask questions.

After the session participants will be able to: Identify the principles of backwards design, use backwards design to align instructional decisions for the upcoming semester, and identify further resources available to instructors for designing courses and when teaching.
