WAC announces spring seminar on teaching through writing

Are you looking for an opportunity to update your writing assignments, but finding it difficult to negotiate time and various responsibilities throughout the semester?  For busy instructors who have trouble finding the time to do it all, the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program will offer its "Teaching Through Writing" seminar this spring as a four-week, three-hour per week commitment beginning on Monday, Feb. 14.

The seminar will include asynchronous individual work, and a weekly one-hour synchronous collaboration with the WAC team and fellow participants. Synchronous sessions will be held via Zoom on Wednesdays (Feb. 16 and 23, Mar. 2 and 9) from 1 to 2 p.m., with an additional half-hour of optional workshop time offered from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

The seminar will afford participants an opportunity to:

-(Re)design an inclusive writing assignment and assessment plan

-Engage with instructors of writing from across the disciplines

-Explore pedagogical approaches concerning transparency, inclusivity, and access

-Receive and provide feedback at various stages of the drafting process
