Aug. 1 is next recommended completion date for TSP

As of June 15, nearly 2,700 Ohio State University instructors have completed at least one part of the University Institute for Teaching and Learning’s Teaching Support Program launched in the autumn semester 2018. That’s over 53% of those eligible.

While all instructors and staff at the university are welcome to participate, full-time tenure-track faculty and full-time and part-time clinical, non-tenure track senior lecturers, lecturers and associated faculty whose primary responsibility is teaching may be compensated for each completed section. UITL highly recommends all compensation-eligible faculty complete the first two parts of the TSP by Aug. 1 in an attempt to apply compensation in a timely manner as the autumn semester begins.

The Teaching Support Program comprises

  1. The Teaching Practices Inventory: A validated instrument that allows faculty to reflect on effective practices they currently use and provides a baseline as their teaching practices evolve.
  2. Teaching@OhioState learning modules and the UITL Reading List reflection submission.
  3. A program for faculty to redesign the structure and delivery of one of their courses, which began in spring 2019 and will continue in five-year cycles.

Only faculty who complete the first two sections are eligible to participate in Instructional Redesign. In addition, some UITL endorsements have the first two parts of the TSP as a pre-requisite or requisite component.
