Autumn 2023 Graduate Teaching Orientation: Currently Hiring Graduate Student Facilitators

Are you an experienced Graduate Teaching Associate who would like to share your teaching experiences with a new cohort of GTAs?

Each year, the Drake Institute hires experienced Ohio State Graduate Teaching Associates to co-facilitate workshops at Graduate Teaching Orientation (GTO). This year, orientation will be held asynchronously during the week of August 14th-18th with an in-person day of orientation activities on Wednesday August 16th. We are looking for facilitators to monitor online course discussion boards and facilitate up to 2 Zoom workshop sessions, as well as 1 in-person session. Facilitators will be provided with training from the Drake Institute and support from peer co-facilitators.

We are looking for applicants who have completed at least two terms of teaching in any role (grader, recitation leader, lab or studio instructor, or independent instructor) at Ohio State by the end of the spring semester. They should also anticipate being enrolled as graduate students at Ohio State in autumn 2023.

The ideal applicant is someone who:

  • Enjoys the challenges of teaching
  • Is reflective about their teaching
  • Can think about teaching beyond their own experience
  • Possesses effective oral communication skills

You can apply by filling out the application survey. Applications will be accepted through April 19th, 2023.

Please direct any questions to drakeinstitute@osu.edu and use “GTO facilitator” in the subject line.
