Teaching Endorsements

Teaching Endorsements are milestones vetted and awarded by the Drake Institute to recognize those who participate in dedicated professional learning and reflection. The Drake Institute partners with content experts across campus to offer multiple options for each of our core teaching and learning competency areas. Each endorsement has been expertly designed to promote professional learning through evidence-based strategies. Please browse dynamic options to further advance your teaching competency in the following areas.

How to Complete a Teaching Endorsement
Steps
  1. Complete the Endorsement Interest form at any time.
  2. Review the Participation Requirements, Program Elements, and Verification necessary for the endorsement you are interested in completing.
  3. Track your participation and retain documentation of events and criteria contributing toward the endorsement.
  4. When you are ready, submit your Endorsement Application. You will be prompted to provide verification of the criteria you completed. Additionally, you will be asked to answer a reflection question, and two core-competency based essay questions specific to the Teaching Endorsement for which you are applying. View application questions and response criteria here.
  5. Your application will be reviewed by Drake Institute staff. If your application is not approved, you will have the opportunity to resubmit.  If your application is approved, you will be sent a digital award letter from Drake Institute Associate Vice Provost and Director and will be awarded an endorsement certificate in Buckeye Learn. In addition to these accolades, graduate students completing an endorsement will have the achievement included on their official Ohio State transcript as a milestone. Please note: graduate students must apply prior to their final semester if they would like the milestone on their transcript.

Process to propose a new Teaching Endorsement

The Drake Institute values partnerships in teaching and learning throughout the Ohio State community.  We welcome proposals to offer new opportunities for the endorsement of competency-based professional learning.

New teaching endorsement proposals are accepted at any time.  The proposal review, revision, and acceptance processes are carried out by content specialists among the Drake Institute staff, in collaborative partnership with the individuals and units proposing the endorsement.

Teaching Endorsements can be offered for a fixed or indefinite time-period.  The terms for offering a specific endorsement are defined during the proposal process and reviewed and evaluated on a regular basis.

Please contact the Drake Institute to request a meeting with our Teaching Endorsement Program Manager to learn more about the proposal process.
