The Drake Institute recognizes the commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service that is demonstrated by Ohio State’s outstanding faculty. Select programs and services related to improving excellence in teaching offered through the institute are designed uniquely for, and available specifically to, Ohio State faculty and associated faculty. Below, you will find brief descriptions of the types of programs and services that are available.
New Faculty Fit Program
The Drake Institute’s Faculty Foundations, Impact, and Transformation (FIT) Program is designed for faculty new to Ohio State or new to teaching at Ohio State. This program pairs small participant cohorts with an experienced faculty mentor. Cohorts meet occasionally throughout the academic year, engaging in discussion around a series of online modules related to excellence and success in teaching at Ohio State. Cohorts form annually at the start of the autumn term.
Research Support
Faculty interested in learning how they might complement their disciplinary research efforts with investigations designed around their instructional responsibilities can find multiple support options offered through the Drake Institute. These include Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and Discipline-Based Educational Research (DBER) Learning Communities, annual teaching research and implementation grant opportunities, and consulting services around teaching-related research project design, implementation and dissemination.
