Registration is Now Open for the Autumn 2024 Graduate Teaching Orientation

Graduate Teaching Orientation (GTO) will be held during the week of August 12. This comprehensive orientation is designed to equip new graduate teachers with the essential skills and confidence needed for a successful teaching journey.

Throughout the week, participants can engage in:

  • an asynchronous Carmen course that covers fundamental concepts of teaching and learning
  • interactive Zoom workshop sessions covering a variety of topics such as inclusive teaching, discussion facilitation, presentation skills and more
  • an in-person workshop on active learning and a resource fair on Thursday, August 15

By the end of orientation, participants should feel more confident about teaching their upcoming courses, be connected with a community of fellow teachers, know how to incorporate techniques and strategies for effective teaching and identify resources for further assistance, and be able to articulate how diversity impacts teaching and learning in their classrooms.

Graduate Teaching Associates can register for GTO by August 1. Departments interested in requiring orientation for their Teaching Associates should contact drakeinstitute@osu.edu.
