A Research and Implementation Grant award from the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning supported a Dennis Learning Center and Center for Life Sciences Education team whose work was recently published in CBE-Life Sciences Education online.

“Supporting Undergraduate Biology Students’ Academic Success: Comparing Two Workshop Interventions” looks at cocurricular workshops for 17 laboratory sections of an undergraduate biology course. Cuyahoga Community College has issued a call for proposals for its annual faculty colloquium. All full-time and adjunct faculty from two- and four-year Ohio colleges are invited to submit a proposal that aligns with this year’s theme: Critical Thinking: It’s Good for You. It’s Good for Me. Deans, program managers and other administrative staff are encouraged to co-present alongside a faculty lead. Proposals must be submitted by noon on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

Dr. Boyd graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1977 with a BS in Physiology. He received a Ph.D in Molecular Biology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986.
