Student feedback is crucial to understanding how students experience our courses. Different forms of feedback can help us make small but impactful adjustments, revise our courses in larger ways, or demonstrate teaching effectiveness throughout our careers. But to be effective, this process also requires careful planning: When should we collect feedback? What kind? How can we use it to benefit our students or ourselves? In this workshop, we'll explore methods for collecting useful, specific feedback from our students. We'll also talk about what you can do with this information at different points in the semester and what resources are available to help you make the most out of collecting feedback from your students.
After attending the workshop, participants will be able to:
- discuss different types of student feedback and their benefits
- select feedback methods and prompts that align with the instructor's goals and the students' needs
- explore strategies for understanding and responding to student feedback
