Are you a graduate student preparing to teach this fall or an Ohio State educator who supports GTAs? Don't miss out—registration is now open for the 2025 Graduate Teaching Orientation.
GTO is designed to meet the needs of any graduate student instructor at the university, whether they teach independently or as a lab instructor, recitation leader, or grader. It is especially beneficial for those who are new to teaching at Ohio State or stepping into a new instructional role or context. Past participants have shared that orientation eased their concerns about teaching for the first time, helped them feel part of Ohio State’s community of graduate instructors, and provided them with valuable teaching strategies they could immediately implement in their new positions.
Each year, GTO takes place the week before classes begin. For Autumn 2025, orientation activities will occur over the week of August 18–August 22. This year's flexible format features an asynchronous online course, two days of in-person orientation activities, and a variety of Zoom workshop sessions that allow participants to tailor their learning to their interests.
The deadline to register for GTO is Friday, August 1.
- Graduate students can register and build their own orientation schedule using the 2025 Graduate Teaching Orientation information packet and GTO registration form below.
- Departmental GTA coordinators who are interested in sending graduate students to GTA can email drakeinstitute@osu.edu for more information and registration options.
