In health professions education, assessment often happens in unique learning contexts. In many cases, learning and assessment take place in clinical settings that include students at multiple levels as well as patients.
The Assessment in Health Professions Education teaching endorsement is offered through a collaboration between the Drake Institute and assessment experts from the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Optometry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. The endorsement program is designed to be completed in one year, with required programs or electives being offered every semester.
Summer 2025 workshops within this endorsement program include:
- Clinical Skills Education and Assessment Center (CSEAC) Tour - During this tour of the Clinical Education and Assessment Center, you will learn about the efficacy of simulation-based training and resources available at The Ohio State University.
- Experiential Learning and Providing Feedback in Health Professions Education - In this hands-on session, we'll explore the experiential learning model, an evidence-based feedback strategy, and collecting feedback in real-world clinical teaching scenarios.
- Multiple Choice Question Item Writing In Health Professions Education - During this interactive session, you'll learn the steps involved in writing effective multiple-choice questions, including aligning questions with learning outcomes and determining the level of learning examined by individual questions.
