Assessment in Health Professions Education

Overview

Assessment in the Health Professions happens in unique learning contexts. In many cases, learning takes place in a clinical setting that includes learners at multiple levels as well as patients. Frequently, the assessors are healthcare providers who have not been trained in educational theories and practices. These healthcare providers require training in assessment that matches the unique practices found in their disciplines and learning environments. Individuals who complete the Assessment in the Health Professions Education endorsement will gain knowledge of the theories and practices underpinning assessment in the health professions and be able to create an assessment plan suitable for their teaching context.
