The Office of Academic Affairs and the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning are excited to announce a new professional development incentive for completing the Teaching and Learning to Build AI Fluency teaching endorsement. This recently launched endorsement is designed to support Ohio State educators and programs to align instruction and curriculum to the AI Fluency initiative. Participants in the program explore how to design learning experiences that build students’ knowledge of generative AI, foster responsible and ethical AI use, and apply AI for discipline-specific purposes.
Eligibility for the Incentive
The endorsement program is open to all who teach and support instruction at Ohio State, including faculty, graduate teaching associates, postdocs, and staff. To be eligible for the incentive, participants must complete all program requirements, submit an endorsement application, and be awarded the endorsement.
- Faculty and Staff Who Teach or Support Instruction: Ohio State faculty and staff who earn the Teaching and Learning to Build AI Fluency endorsement will be eligible to receive a $300 professional development incentive. These funds will be distributed through their academic unit following endorsement completion.
- Graduate Students: Ohio State graduate students who earn this endorsement will be eligible to receive a milestone on their academic transcript recognizing the achievement. This milestone will serve as an official record of professional development in AI fluency and teaching innovation.
Endorsement completion will be tracked and reported three times per year (January, June, September), and certificates will be awarded via BuckeyeLearn. For endorsements earned between December 2025 – August 2027, professional development funds will be distributed by academic units following each reporting period.
