The Drake Institute is excited to share the availability of a wide variety of new teaching support programming to graduate students and postdocs at Ohio State, including workshops, learning communities, teaching and learning research groups, massive open online courses, and more through the university’s membership in the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL). Learn all about opportunities made available through CIRTL at the Drake Institute’s virtual CIRTL Kickoff Session on August 24th at 12:00 PM EST.
OSU joined the CIRTL Network during the 2021/2022 academic year. CIRTL is a growing network of over 40 institutions of higher education across North America that is committed to providing graduate students and postdocs with training and professional development focused on preparing for the teaching responsibilities of a career in academia. As a recognized member of the CIRTL Network, the entire Ohio State University community is granted access to both local programming and support, as well as cross-network programming offered through CIRTL, including workshops, MOOCs, learning communities, short courses, institutes, and more. Autumn 2023 CIRTL cross-network events have been posted and are open for registration. Members of CIRTL member institutions are granted priority registration access to CIRTL events, which can be viewed at https://cirtl.net/events/. The Drake Institute will facilitate the November 2nd CIRTL workshop, “Teaching with Transparency: Evidence-Based Approaches to Foster Student Motivation and Engagement,” from 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm EST and offers a variety of local programming, as well as teaching endorsements to graduate students and postdocs at OSU who engage in programming aligned to CIRTL learning outcomes.
