Get Started on a Teaching Endorsement

Are you interested in earning a teaching endorsement but don't know where to start? See the steps to begin your endorsement journey below. Reach out to drakeinstitute@osu.edu if you have questions or concerns.

Step 1: Consider your teaching or professional learning goals.

As you begin, consider what you hope to gain from your professional learning experience. Teaching endorsements are organized by core competency area, each with its own description and learning outcomes that define its focus. Within each area, individual endorsements offer more targeted learning outcomes aligned with that broader competency. Browse by core competency or view all teaching endorsements to find the path that best fits your goals and interests.

Step 2: Complete the optional Teaching Endorsement Interest Form.

We encourage you to complete our optional form to indicate your interest in a specific teaching endorsement. Although this step is not required, it can be a helpful way to get connected as you begin the endorsement process.

Step 3: Explore program requirements for the endorsement you are interested in pursuing.

Each teaching endorsement has its own set of requirements designed to support meaningful, personalized professional learning. As you explore your selected endorsement, view the Program Requirements section to familiarize yourself with participation activities and confirm they align with your goals and interests. Depending on the endorsement, you may be able to choose from different pathways, electives and a variety of on-demand and synchronous experiences.

Step 4: Review the verification process.

Depending on the teaching endorsement you are pursuing, the final application may include a verification step in which you provide documentation confirming completion of program requirements. These expectations vary by endorsement and are outlined in the Verification section at the bottom of each endorsement page. Verification materials may include documentation provided by an endorsement facilitator, a BuckeyeLearn transcript or certificates or other records of your participation.

View guidance on locating and downloading BuckeyeLearn transcripts and certificates.

Step 5: Register for programming.

Now that you are familiar with the endorsement’s program requirements and verification expectations, you can begin to plan your endorsement journey. Register for the required and elective programming, and get ready to learn and engage.
