Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Multiple Perspectives Conference Returns to Ohio State April 13–14

The Multiple Perspectives Conference, now in its 26th year, will take place April 13–14 at The Ohio State University. Hosted by Ohio State’s ADA Office, this annual event brings together educators, disability advocates, technologists and accessibility professionals to explore how institutions can design systems and environments that advance access for all and help us achieve the congressional purpose for the ADA:

"To invoke the sweep of congressional authority, including the power to enforce the fourteenth amendment and to regulate commerce, in order to address the major areas of discrimination faced day-to-day by people with disabilities. Pub. L. 110-325, §2."

Since its inception more than two decades ago, the Multiple Perspectives Conference has served as a forum for exploring disability as a vital part of the human experience and accessibility as a integral part of effective design, technological innovation and civic participation. This year’s gathering comes at a particularly important moment for higher education, as institutions across the country prepare for new digital accessibility requirements under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  As educators engage in this work, the Multiple Perspectives program will provide practical guidance and discussion around accessibility policies and practices.

2026 Theme and Program

This year’s Multiple Perspectives Conference is centered on the theme “Infrastructures for Accessibility.” Over two days, presenters and participants will explore how accessibility is embedded in the policies, technologies and practices that shape our participation in learning, the workplace and everyday life—from physical environments to digital platforms and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

The conference agenda features 20 distinct sessions highlighting perspectives from disability scholars, practitioners and community members. Attendees can choose to explore a range of topics including creating a culture of belonging, moving beyond compliance, applying best practices in disciplines from math to the performing arts, expanding accessible housing in our communities, supporting neurodivergent youth and much more.
