Drake Institute Affiliates from the College of Nursing shared notable work at the National League of Nursing Education Research Conference (NERC) in Washington, DC in March. Dr. Joni Tornwall, Associate Clinical Professor and Senior Drake Affiliate, shared “Q-Methodology for Teaching, Research and Improvement in Learning Design: Enhancing Student Competency in Trauma-Informed Care.” Dr. Elizabeth Sharpe, Associate Professor of Clinical Nursing and Drake Affiliate, co-presented collaborative work with Dr. Tara King , “Assigned Peer Discussants for Student Presentations Elevate Engagement and Feedback.”
Additionally, six students in the new Doctor of Nursing Education program also attended NERC, with many delivering their first national presentations.
- Tracy Koehler presented “Establishing a Sustainable, Evidence-Based Peer Tutor Training Program” as a poster presentation.
- Penny Maready, MSN, presented “Enhanced Support for Non-Traditional Nursing Students to Promote Retention in a Community College Associate Degree Program" as a podium presentation.
- Marci Morgan presented “Implementing Simulation to improve Complex Content Understanding and Summative Assessment Scores” as a poster presentation.
- Rachel Sinz presented “Preventing Student Attrition in a Nursing Pharmacology Course” as a poster presentation.
- Abby Suarez, instructor of Clinical Practice, and Rebecca Lane presented “The Implementation of an Evidence-based Orientation Program for Novice Nurse Educators Teaching in an LPN-BSN Program” as a poster presentation.
