Ohio State educators interested in learning how to design a global and intercultural learning experience with international partners are encouraged to apply for the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Virtual Exchange Learning Community, which will take place in Autumn 2025.

The COIL Virtual Exchange Learning Community supports instructors with designing new global and intercultural learning experiences in virtual modalities. Participants will learn how to design an interculturally mediated collaborative project with international partners. Throughout the autumn semester, they will develop skills that enable them to create appropriate intercultural learning outcomes, find resources for online learning, and administer valid and reliable assessment measures. Additionally, each community member may apply for funding from the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning to be used for individual course creation, materials, and professional development.
This past fall, fifteen faculty and instructors in the 2024 COIL learning community designed and integrated new virtual global and intercultural learning experiences into general education and disciplinary curricula across Ohio State.
