Getting Started with ePortfolio Assignments

Date
March 19, 2025 | 1:00 - 2:30 pm
Location

Description

ePortfolios can benefit students in almost any learning setting: they increase opportunities for reflection, help students connect ideas across disciplines, and offer a more holistic assessment of student progress. This joint OTDI-Drake Institute workshop introduces participants to using ePortfolio at Ohio State. This hands-on workshop invites participants to learn by doing: We'll build a page in PebblePad, Ohio State's ePortfolio platform; learn how PebblePad links to CarmenCanvas; and practice creating collections, blogs, and workbooks. Join us to discuss how ePortfolio pedagogy fits in with Ohio State's General Education and other programs and explore ways to create ePortfolio assignments that challenge students to make connections across courses, all while getting real-time help with PebblePad.

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • describe the benefits of well-designed ePortfolio assignments
  • discuss the challenges of using ePortfolio assignments from both a student and instructor perspective
  • explain what a "signature assignment" is and when a course might benefit from that approach
  • draft and revise ePortfolio assignments appropriate for their courses
