ePortfolios can benefit almost any course: they increase opportunities for reflection, help students connect ideas across disciplines, and offer a more holistic assessment of student progress. This workshop offers beginner and intermediate ePortfolio users the opportunity to explore the kinds of assignments and projects that lead to meaningful learning. Participants will be given an overview of research on ePortfolios as assignments and assessment frameworks, planning tools, and time to edit, revise, or create new assignments that help students engage more deeply with course materials and make connections across the curriculum.
After this workshop participants will be able to:
- describe the benefits of well-designed ePortfolio assignments
- discuss the challenges of using ePortfolio assignments from both a student and instructor perspective
- explain what a "signature assignment" is and when a course might benefit from that approach
- draft and revise ePortfolio assignments appropriate for their courses
