Artificial intelligence is reshaping how students learn, communicate, and prepare for their careers. As higher education adapts to this shift, instructors face the challenge of designing meaningful assignments that support their learning outcomes and students' acquisition of AI fluency. This 90-minute workshop introduces instructors to assignment design practices that address this challenge. Through collaborative discussion and guided reflection, participants will identify strategies to promote students’ AI fluency, learn about OSU-approved AI tools, consider how to connect fluency outcomes with their own assignments, and leave with concrete ideas they can integrate into their courses
After this workshop participants will be able to:
- Describe assignment design strategies that enhance learning and engagement
- Explore the AI fluency initiative, university-approved AI tools, and resources for continued learning
- Discuss benefits and limitations of designing assignments that address or incorporate AI
- Align AI fluency outcomes to potential assignments for your course
- Reflect on strategies for fostering AI fluency through assignment design
