Application of Entrepreneurial Minded Teaching and Learning

Department of Engineering Education

Overview

Instructors who wish to enhance students’ engagement and learning through Entrepreneurial Mindset (EM) which is based on 3Cs: curiosity, connections, and creating value, among their students should participate in this teaching endorsement. When students practice a mindset rooted in the 3Cs from KEEN Entrepreneurial Mindset Framework in parallel with course specific skillsets, they can create more societal good and impact. Even though the KEEN Entrepreneurial Mindset framework has been developed by engineers, for engineers, this framework applies to any course topic. Successful integration Entrepreneurial Mindset (EM) into writing courses, psychology, physics, chemistry, economics, math, and others are available as cards on engineeringunleashed.com. At OSU, we are using EM to help prepare students for their future careers.

To participate in the Application of Entrepreneurial Minded Teaching and Learning teaching endorsement, instructors must first complete the Entrepreneurial Minded Teaching and Learning endorsement which provides instructors with deeper understanding Entrepreneurial Mindset. This advanced teaching endorsement is designed to help instructors apply the Entrepreneurial Mindset (EM-Card) by integrating it into a unit or module in their courses.

Participants will engage in an intensive, multi-part workshop series over the teaching endorsement of a semester, receiving hands-on guidance from experts. The focus is on the design and implementation of EM teaching-learning opportunities within their courses. Regular reflection, feedback, and peer interaction are integral to the process, allowing instructors to refine their approach, learn from one another, and enhance their teaching practices. By the end of this endorsement, participants will create and publish an Entrepreneurial Mindset (EM) Card on the Engineering Unleashed website. This card will showcase examples of EM integration in their courses, offering insights and best practices to support broader student engagement and learning.
