Working with Neurodivergent Students

Date
April 17, 2025 | 3:00 - 4:30 pm
Location

Description

Working with neurodivergent students can be both exciting and challenging. In this interactive workshop, participants will learn more about the "neurodiversity umbrella,” the kinds of neurodivergences most relevant to our students’ success, ways that neurodivergent students experience and interact with our courses, and how we can support them as they learn to live and work in a neurotypical world. Come ready to share your own experiences, discuss the hidden strengths of neurodivergent students, and create new learning opportunities that engage everyone—neurotypical or neurospicy.

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • define terms around neurodiversity
  • describe the neurodiversity of student populations at Ohio State
  • explain the strengths and challenges of those who identify as neurodivergent
  • apply teaching strategies that benefit all learners, including neurodivergent students.
