Turning Student Feedback into Actionable Insights: (A new tool for course coordinators)

Description

Students' open-ended responses on the end-of-course Survey of Student Learning Experience (SSLE) provide valuable insights into their perspectives on teaching methods, course activities and learning environments. However, the sheer volume of survey data can make it challenging to translate this feedback into meaningful action. Explorance, the vendor behind the university's SSLE survey management system (Blue), has developed MLY (pronounced mil-LEE), an AI tool that helps educators and academic units process student feedback and make data-informed decisions.

In collaboration with the University Registrar, Explorance and the Office of Faculty Affairs, the Drake Institute is offering three workshops to help you access and interpret MLY summaries . Each session will provide practical guidance tailored to the needs of a specific audience—instructors, course coordinators and college leaders like faculty affairs deans or department chairs.

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • describe the basic functionality of MLY
  • locate SSLE reports and MLY summaries for their courses or programs
  • use MLY summaries to gain actionable insights
  • identify resources and support for responding to student feedback
