This workshop will explain the importance of specific teaching strategies that can be utilized in the classroom to support student sense of belonging and a culture of growth. Participants will engage in activities and discussion that will increase their knowledge of these strategies and assist them in determining which strategies will work best for their respective classrooms.

After attending the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • describe the impact of student academic belonging and growth culture on student academic achievement and students’ overall sense of belonging
  • explain at least 2 teaching practices that support student academic belonging and growth culture
  • implement teaching strategies to foster student academic belonging and growth culture
