Wondering when and how to write a letter of recommendation for a student? Not sure how to ask an advisor for a letter of recommendation yourself? This workshop introduces participants to mentoring and advising strategies that can be used with undergraduate students, as well as strategies for fostering and maintaining successful relationships with faculty mentors and advisors.

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • reflect on their dual positions as mentors and mentees
  • identify strategies for maintaining relationships with both undergraduate advisees and faculty advisors
  • understand best practices for both writing and asking for letters of recommendation
