Join the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning in this foundational exploration of formative assessment. Designed for instructors across all disciplines, this session will introduce participants to the wide variety of evidence-informed formative assessment techniques available. Evidence in support of adopting formative assessment techniques will be discussed, and cases will be presented to help participants in identifying appropriate strategies given their different instructional contexts and unique challenges.
After this workshop participants will be able to:
- explain the value of embedding formative assessment in teaching practice
- identify examples of formative assessment techniques that can be applied across disciplines and teaching contexts
- select appropriate formative assessment techniques based on common challenges experienced in teaching
