Experiential Learning and Providing Feedback in Health Professions Education

Description

Providing feedback is a foundational skill for clinician educators, helping them foster a culture of continuous improvement and patient- care excellence. During this hands-on workshop, participants will discuss the experiential learning model and learn about an evidence-based feedback strategy. Participants will also discuss providing feedback in real-world clinical teaching scenarios. 

After attending the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • consider the Experiential Learning cycle when planning to provide feedback​
  • develop a plan to provide feedback based on the SPIKES model ​
  • analyze the factors that contribute to providing effective feedback​
  • provide feedback to learners in a variety of contexts
