Active Learning in Large Enrollment Courses

Date
December 2, 2026 | 2:00 - 3:30 pm
Location
CarmenZoom
Description

Research has shown that using evidence-based active learning strategies in the classroom increases student sense of belonging, engagement, and academic achievement. Despite this, instructors find using these strategies in large enrollment courses somewhat challenging. This interactive session will allow participants to explore the active learning strategies that can work in large enrollment courses and share current adaptations of these strategies that they have found effective.

After this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • identify active learning strategies that can be adapted for use in large enrollment courses.
  • plan an active learning strategy to use in their own large enrollment courses.
