Sara Gombash Lampe joined the Department of Neuroscience as faculty in August of 2020. While working as a post-doctoral researcher in Neuroscience at OSU, she discovered her passion for teaching and took on every educational training opportunity she could to learn about pedagogy. Training by the Drake Institute gave her a strong foundation for understanding how students learn, utilizing new educational technologies, and understanding the best formats for course design. Sara has been part of the Faculty FIT program and an Online Course Design Institute, training she now uses to design online educational programs for the College of Medicine.

With collaboration and training in Teaching and Curriculum Design from the College of Medicine Faculty Advancement, Mentoring and Engagement (FAME) program, Sara hopes to bring innovative educational ideas to traditional programs in the College of Medicine. She believes that really wonderful educational opportunities start with creativity and risk, and she hopes to encourage and assist her colleagues to take on those types of challenges.  As a Drake Affiliate, she plans to introduce programming provided by the Drake Institute, such as teaching endorsements, the IR program, and SoTL cohorts, to more COM faculty in order to assist new and veteran instructors to develop and expand their teaching methods.
