Karen Winstead, Professor of English, specializes in medieval literature, popular culture, and gender studies.  She has taught and (re)designed GE and upper-level literature courses, large lecture courses, and graduate and first year seminars.  Her teaching repertoire includes Arthurian Legends, Medieval Women, Vampires, Monsters in Film and Literature, and the Survey of British Literature to 1800.  Online pedagogy fascinates her.  She has developed and taught several online asynchronous courses and has earned the Drake Institute teaching endorsements for Teaching Online, Digital Humanities Pedagogy, and Digital Media and Composition.  She received Professor of the Year Awards from the English Undergraduate Organization in 2016 and 2019 and from the English Graduate Organization in 2020 and 2021.
