August Masonheimer

August Masonheimer is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Educational Studies specializing in educational psychology at The Ohio State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in education from the University of California and a master’s in educational studies with a specialization in quantitative research, evaluation, and measurement from The Ohio State University. August has taught and assisted with a variety of courses with topics including educational psychology, research methods, and statistics. His commitment to his students and the practice of teaching was formally recognized in 2023 when he was a recipient of The Ohio State University’s Graduate Associate Teaching Award.

Prior to his university work, August served as an educator and site director at a non-profit organization for underserved middle school students. August’s research interests build on these educational experiences and focus on understanding how students regulate their own and others’ learning in response to academic challenges that students experience within collaborative learning structures. This work is primarily grounded in theories of self-, co-, and socially shared regulated learning. He is also interested in areas concerning academic motivation, instructional design, measurement and survey design, and methods to support students and educators.
