Alexander Burry is an Associate Professor of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures. He has been at Ohio State since 2004. He is the author of Multi-Mediated Dostoevsky: Transposing Novels into Opera, Film, and Drama (Northwestern UP, 2011) and Legacies of the Stone Guest: The Don Juan Legend in Russian Literature (Wisconsin UP, 2023), and has co-edited volumes of essays on Crime and Punishment and film adaptation of Russian literature. Courses he has taught include Masterpieces of Russian Literature, Utopia and Dystopia in Russian Literature, East vs. West: Science Fiction in Literature and Film, Slavic and East European Immigration in the U.S., and many others. He enjoys mentoring younger colleagues and discussing the joys and challenges of teaching at all levels.
