Team-Based Learning (TBL) is an evidence-based teaching strategy designed to provide students the opportunity to practice applying course concepts to solve problems. During this interactive session, participants will learn how design a TBL activity so students practice solving problems they will likely face in the future. Panelists Doug Danforth, Larry Hurtubise, Marje Winhoven, and Zach Woods will share strategies for facilitating TBL in large face to face, online groups, and hybrid groups.

Following this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the elements and process of TBL.
  • Discuss the benefits of TBL for large enrollment courses.
  • Develop a TBL activity.
  • Recognize common obstacles to facilitating effective TBL and identify strategies for overcoming them.
