Information Literacy and Data Literacy

October 20, 2022 | 12:00pm to 1:00pm
Virtual

Two key competencies for students are information literacy and data literacy. Data literacy has been described “as the component of information literacy that enables individuals to access, interpret, critically assess, manage, handle, and ethically use data” (Prado and Marzal, 2013, p. 126). In this workshop, participants will have a chance to explore the connections between data literacy and information literacy. What are the distinctions between these two concepts? What are the areas of intersection? Participants should leave with a better understanding of these concepts as well as ideas for incorporating an emphasis on data information literacy into their courses.
