Taking notes can be an isolating experience. Collaborating with peers to construct group notes, however, leverages the power of social learning and transforms passive transcribing into active learning. Collaborative note-taking allows students to take notes, ask questions of each other, answer questions, and make connections to ideas from the course as well as beyond the course.

In this workshop, we’ll evaluate examples of group notes, engage in a group note-taking experience, and generate individual frameworks for group notes for immediate use in a class, meeting, or other event.
