Deja Beamon, MA is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her research explores the homogeneity of popular imaginings of the future and excavates alternative ways of being in futurity through Black consciousness. Deja is dedicated to the practice of teaching both inside and outside of the academy. In the classroom, she focuses on decolonial epistemological practices that encourage students to question how and what they learn. She is committed to teaching with the wholeness of her students in mind and incorporating their interests and learning styles into the classroom structure.
