Clara Nan-hi Lee

Dr. Clara Lee is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon and health services researcher at The Ohio State University. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College, a Master of Public Policy degree from Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, and a Medical Degree from Yale School of Medicine. She completed residency in general surgery at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and residency in plastic surgery at the University of California San Francisco.


Dr. Lee’s clinical practice is focused on cancer reconstruction and microsurgery. Her research is devoted to understanding and improving how patients and clinicians make decisions about cancer treatments. Her research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, Pelotonia Foundation, Plastic Surgery Foundation, and Informed Medical Decisions Foundation.


Learning how to educate students, residents, and fellows in clinical settings is an important challenge for new clinical faculty. Dr. Lee is particularly interested in ways to tailor teaching methods to diverse clinical scenarios and to learners who are at different points in the clinical training process. She is also interested in the use of micro-feedback in clinical teaching.
