In Sarah Rusnak’s first year as faculty in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, she benefited greatly from the Faculty FIT program and a Course Design Institute cohort. In the years since she has attended numerous trainings and workshops sponsored by the Drake Institute. Serving as a Drake Institute Affiliate is a wonderful opportunity to pay it forward.

The collaboration that she has been privileged to experience as part of the community of educators at Ohio State in the past year has been a silver lining to the pandemic. Within days of lockdown the faculty in HRS were meeting to swap tips and tricks for teaching remotely, and by the summer of 2020, she found herself part of communities that crossed disciplines in the health sciences and across colleges at the university. Silos didn’t matter, what mattered was sharing what they were learning and their shared goal to provide the best experience for students whatever the discipline.

Within the College of Medicine and the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, she leads trainings on the use of educational technologies to enhance learning. She serves as a Carmen Affiliate for HRS and holds weekly office hours open to anyone who teaches in HRS to help with CarmenCanvas, CarmenZoom, and Mediasite. In addition, she serves as a Faculty Consultant for Educational Technology to the College of Medicine’s Center for Faculty Advancement, Mentoring, and Engagement.
