Anne Van is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She primarily anchors her research in race, gender, skin tone, and beauty culture. Her current manuscript under peer review delves into Black women’s experiences with cosmetics. Anne also researches critical learning theories and seeks to integrate feminist pedagogy into higher education. As a teacher, Anne strives to develop and encourage critical thinking skills in her students to analyze power in their everyday lives. Outside of academia, Anne enjoys playing video games, creating ceramics, and weight lifting.
