Webinar on accessible and effective assignments

Instructors seeking to design accessible and effective assignments for in-person and distance teaching contexts are invited to attend a Drake Institute webinar from 1-2:15 p.m. on Friday, July 31.

Faciliated by Drake Institute Instructional Consultant Shadia Siliman and Graduate Consultant Anne Van, this webinar will emphasize creative and flexible designs that provide students of diverse backgrounds and experiences the opportunity to meaningfully engage with course content. This webinar also provides a space for participants with varying levels of teaching experience to collaborate and learn from one another. Participants will use backwards design to develop assignments that guide student learning in alignment with course goals and learning outcomes.

Successful participants will be able to:

  • Define accessible design across in-person and distance teaching contexts
  • Articulate the process of backwards design in determining assignments
  • Analyze the context of one’s course and student needs in regards to accessibility
  • Develop accessible strategies that are appropriate and effective across learning

Participants are asked to bring draft or finalized goals/learning outcomes for their course to the webinar.
