IR Writing Workshop – Section 2: Development and Planning

The Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) Instructional Redesign (IR) program awards eligible Ohio State instructors (0.75 FTE and above) with $1,150 to implement, assess and document evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning. Participants in the program document their experience in the form of an IR portfolio. While a template and review/scoring rubric for IR portfolios are available, the effort to compile a complete and successful portfolio can serve as a barrier to program completion. Therefore, the ITL is excited to offer writing workshops on each section of the IR portfolio to provide clear guidance and facilitate more efficient and effective writing.
   
   In this workshop, we will discuss the requirements for section 2 of the IR portfolio: Development and Planning. Participants in this workshop can expect to leave the session with a working draft or outline of section 2 of the IR portfolio. This workshop is open to anyone interested in the ITL’s Instructional Redesign program. You can check eligibility requirements for the program by visiting our webpage dedicated to IR. After this workshop participants will be able to: 

• Describe the expectations for a successful IR portfolio.
• Articulate what constitutes the IR “pathway”.
• Identify relevant professional learning experiences and other resources or activities (colleagues, personal efforts, etc.) that support the evidence-based practices being adopted for IR.
• Seek/review primary literature sources that provide evidence to support adoption of the IR-related instructional changes/strategies.
