Information Literacy Virtual Workshop Series: Scholarship as Conversation

Information literacy requires more than being able to search a database. There are underlying concepts that students need to grasp in order to effectively engage with information. One of these concepts is Scholarship as Conversation—a recognition that scholars are engaging in ongoing dialogues in which new ideas and research findings are continually being debated, expanded, accepted or rejected.

This semester, University Libraries is again offering a virtual information literacy workshop series. The first workshop, scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, from noon - 1 p.m., will focus on Scholarship as Conversation, one of the key information literacy concepts identified by the Association of College and Research Libraries. As part of this interactive workshop, you will explore potential student learning bottlenecks related to this concept and consider teaching activities that you could use to help students increase their understanding of scholarship as an ongoing conversation.

Each workshop in the series will cover a core information literacy concept from the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (ACRL, 2015). Additional workshops in the series include:
