Information Literacy Virtual Workshop Series: Research as Inquiry

Hosted by:
University Libraries
September 23, 2020 | 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Students and instructors can have very different understandings of the purpose and process of research assignments. This gap in understanding can cause confusion, anxiety and frustration on both sides. In order to effectively engage in the academic research process, it is important for students to develop an understanding of research as an iterative process of inquiry.

Research as Inquiry is one of the core information literacy concepts highlighted in the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (ACRL, 2015). To learn more about this concept, and identify activities or assignments that you could use to help students enhance their understanding of the academic research process, plan to attend our upcoming workshop, scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 from noon - 1 p.m.

For questions, contact Jane Hammons. Not able to make the live workshop? A self-guided version of the workshop is available here: https://go.osu.edu/researchinquiry

This workshop is the second in the University Libraries’ virtual Information Literacy workshop series.

Each workshop in the series will cover a core information literacy concept from the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (ACRL, 2015). Additional workshops in the series include:

  • October 7: Authority is Constructed and Contextual
  • October 14: Information Creation as a Process
  • October 21: Searching as Strategic Exploration
