GTA Toolkit Inclusive Learning Environments: Combating Microaggressions

This event is for Graduate Students only.

In order to facilitate more inclusive learning environments for our students, participants will learn how to implement discussion guidelines to prevent microaggressions and stereotype threat in the classroom. We will also practice "Open the Front Door,” a conflict-resolution approach to managing classroom discussion.

After this workshop participants will be able to: 

  • Define stereotype threat and microaggressions.
  • Strategize about ways to prevent stereotype threat and microaggressions in our classes.
  • Practice “Open the Front Door,” a conflict-resolution approach to managing classroom discussion.
