This session will showcase practical methods of assessing student learning supported by ongoing research in "flipped" classroom pedagogies including reflective discussion boards, branch chain "choose your own adventure" activities, and social annotation. Participates will be encouraged to share their personal observations or challenges engaging students in “flipped” learning assessments and reflect on where and how such approaches to assessment could enhance their own teaching.

After this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Identify challenges to student "flipped" learning.
  • Describe best practices of “flipped” learning assessment such as social annotation, group discussion boards, and branch chain activities.
  • Design “flipped” learning assessments with the potential to enhance their teaching.
