The Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning invites instructors with upcoming teaching commitments to join a community of practice focused on contemplative pedagogies.

Applicants must have a teaching commitment either in the Fall of 2020 or Spring of 2021

Contemplative pedagogy involves teaching methods designed to cultivate deepened awareness, concentration, and insight. Research suggests that contemplative pedagogy reduces test-taking anxiety and stress, improves course performance, creates cognitive space for considering new and challenging viewpoints, improves creativity and problem-solving, and builds empathy amongst students in the classroom.

Through engagement with fellow instructors, participants will strengthen mindful practice in their teaching and the construction of their self-image as instructors. This community will meet via Zoom for one hour per week.
